South Bengal is bracing for a scorching weekend with the Meteorological Department issuing a heatwave alert. Over the next five days, temperatures are expected to rise by 3–4°C above normal. While North Bengal may experience rainfall in certain districts, South Bengal will continue to suffer from dry, sweltering weather.

- Heatwave Alert

  The heatwave warning has been issued for Sunday across South Bengal, particularly affecting four districts — Bankura, Birbhum, West Midnapore and West Bardhaman — where temperatures could be 5°C higher than usual.

- Rising Temperatures

  Other districts in South Bengal will also witness a temperature spike of 3–4°C above normal.

  - Kolkata: Exceeded 33°C

  - Panagarh (West Bardhaman): Surpassed 36°C

  - Diamond Harbour & Bankura: Reached 35°C

  - Kalaikunda & Purulia: Also recorded 35°C

- Humidity Levels

  Coastal districts will experience 80–90% humidity while inland districts will see 70–80% humidity, intensifying the discomfort.
